Biography

Kelly grew up in the South East of England. Moving to Scotland in 2000. She completed a degree and Masters in Scotland. She is mother to four children.

Statement

I completed my art degree and Masters in Scotland, the rural surroundings have hugely influenced me. I am lucky to live within an amazing landscape and I have been filming here for a long time, documenting the environment, observing its production within local farming practices. Here there is beauty and rawness edged by community. I appreciate being able to witness the interactions and seasonal change that happens around me.

I have been interested in how different creative processes and the players  allowed within that production process change the quality of what is created.

As I work through my personal recovering of lost energies and connections within my own inner landscape, I am also bearing witness to and bringing into my awareness their counterpart patterns externally, in the world. A fuller reflection of the field and the field within me. As above so below.

A re-cognition rooted in discovering and recovering silenced aspects, lost internally and personally through traumatic experience, and at the same time, through the creation of the art work, transforming those experiences into something more and beautiful.

Returning repressed flows internally allows me to ‘see’ them as patterns in the world around me and the work becomes a kind of mending. A return through imaginal space of non reflected players and energies to prescence, a re processing that remembers and experiences. This process for me feels like I am ‘being the change’
